Calling In the Mists

from Faces of the Goddess by Cathy McManamon

/

about

This piece speaks to two different events. First, the people of Avalon have been betrayed by the priests who demonized the priestesses and druids, called in Roman soldiers, and destroyed the peaceful coexistence of christian and pagan communities of the Vale of Avalon. Caillean, Sianna (daughter of the Faery Queen), and Gawen (son of a Hundred Kings and Pendragon) combine their power to raise the energy needed to draw Avalon into the mists that will enshroud it and protect it henceforth. Second, when Merlin and then Viviane pass from this world, Avalon retreats so deeply into the mists that it will be hidden and protected forever
