about

Isa is the frozen, still ice of deep winter. It is the state of motionless, of being stuck - but only temporarily, for winter ice melts into the spring waters that feed all growing things. I wrote this in galdr form, a Norse poem with a certain number of lines and syllables, years ago for a class I attended and it needed only a bit of arranging to become whole and alive.

lyrics

Green and growing, living
Blanketed beneath snow
Waiting, wanting, watching
For springtime's warming glow
Ice will turn to water
Sacred source, earth's lifeblood
Flow again to free the life here.
